City of Mesa 18.19 Historic Preservation Board Writing Contest Winner

Tiago Phielipp earned 2nd place in the City of Mesa 18.19 Historic Preservation Board Writing Contest. This contest was open to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders that live in the city of Mesa. Tiago chose to write a fictional story on based on the Street Life and Mesa's Neon Signs up until 1970. He was to consider what life would be like in Mesa during the time period of his story. The concept, research, writing were all self-lead by Tiago. Mr. Stefan was a sounding board throughout the essay writing process. Tiago plans to enter the contest again next year and may even choose to enter the oral presentation portion for 7th and 8th graders. Please read on for his essay.
