Red-tailed Hawks - October Update

Hello Red-tailed Hawk Families!
Things are moving right along in the classroom. This month has been very productive and fun!
We are beginning to see a lot of enthusiasm for presenting finished work to the class, which in
turn, inspires others to do works that they would like to present, and so on and so on. The
result is that we have a lot of diverse and collaborative work happening in the classroom. Some
of the things that students are working on include short reports on animals, external parts of
the fish and amphibian, fraction construction operations, and dialogue writing. Isa and Coletta
presented their report on Texas and made a very yummy Texas Sheet Cake for the class. While
we (not so patiently) await more "fall-like" temperatures, we've been playing inside games at
recess including "Heads-up, 7-Up" and "Poison Dart Frog". We are hoping for a return of the
cooler weather soon, so that we can begin working outside.

Our auction project, "Times Square", is moving along nicely thanks to our amazing room parents
Chasa and Kimberly, who have been coming in and working with the students on their tile
decorating. The process is very neat to watch and is getting the students very excited to see the
finished project.

When we return from fall break, we will begin parent-classroom observations, and parent
-teacher conferences. Please keep an eye out for that information and sign-up to be sent
through SchoolCues next week. The times are a first-come, first-served reservation basis, so the
earlier you sign up, the more options you will have.

Thank you for your continued support of the Red-tailed Hawks!

In peace and appreciation,
Mrs. Amie

P.S. As a reminder, please be sure that snacks are a fresh fruit, a fresh vegetable, or a lean
protein. Treats in lunches may be sent in on Fridays, but please do NOT send candy of any kind.
"Treats", such as a cookie, pudding, jello, etc., are better options, as candy doesn't do much to
"fill the tummy", but does a lot for the "energy level" of the classroom :-)
