Red-Tailed Hawks November Update

Red-Tailed Hawks November Update

Students Working in the Courtyard

Hello Again Red-tailed Hawk Families!

We have a very fun, and very busy November ahead of us, so please make sure to read carefully
and take note of dates and events.

It has been so wonderful to welcome our families into the environment to see the great things
that are happening in class. There is a large variety of work going on, and it is great to see the
enthusiasm for learning that they students have. In language, we have students working on the
parts of speech including auxiliary verbs, verb tenses and conjunctions. Several of our younger
students have gotten very excited about the grammar box work, and others are enjoying
identifying the parts of speech in text. Many students are writing stories and researches, and
our Writers' Workshop groups have been concentrating on editing, revisions, and apostrophe
usage.

In math, our younger students are working with fractions, including addition and subtraction,
and some of them have been working with bar graphs as well. The students are very excited
about practicing their multiplication facts, and are making great progress in memorizing their
multiples. There is linear measurement happening, long division, order of operations and much
more.

We have been studying and classifying triangles, learning about types of lines, and working with
color theory in art. We began our Composition of the Earth lessons, with "The Onion World"
lessons which was well received (and stinky, hahaha).

In addition to all of this hard work, we have also been preparing our dance for the upcoming
Fall Festival, taking our tortoise community for "fieldtrips" to the field, and preparing and
planting our garden.

We are very excited about the upcoming Fall Festival on November 11th. If you haven't had a
chance to get your tickets yet, please do so! It's always a fun time, and a wonderful way to get
to know the Keystone Community while supporting the students' educational needs. Our
classroom raffle basket is amazing, and our classroom project is a beautiful, functional piece of
art.

On Thursday, November 16th, the Red-tailed Hawks will be having our annual classroom
Thanksgiving Feast. This takes place at lunchtime in the classroom, and is for the students only.
We will be collecting a donation of $10 from each family to use for groceries. The students will
then do the meal planning, shopping and food preparation for our feast. A note with more
information will be coming home soon.

Our first Classroom Family Social event will be Monday, December 4th at 6:00. It will be a
"Sweets Swap" and will be held at Desert Foothills Park at 6:00pm. More information will be
sent home closer to the date, but please save the date!

Thank you all for your support and love for Keystone and the Red-tailed Hawks. We hope to see
you at the Fall Event!

In peace and appreciation,
Mrs. Amie
