Great Horned Owls - April Update

This month, we had a one-week spring break. After the break, the children gave a wonderful presentation on the five biomes to the entire school and their families. They worked very hard on their stage backgrounds and costumes, and they did an excellent job delivering their lines. Everyone memorized their parts and performed confidently on stage.

To celebrate their hard work, we took a walk to the park for a picnic. The children had a great time relaxing and enjoying fun activities. While outdoors, they followed the rules and behaved very well.

From March 24-28, we also celebrated Spirit Week, which was both fun and meaningful for the students.

Even with the preparation for their presentations, the children remained dedicated to their academics this month.

Grade 1

First graders conducted several biology experiments. They explored the needs of plants by planting seeds, watering them, and observing their germination process. To find the hottest part of the day, they recorded outdoor temperatures using thermometers. They also studied the parts of a succulent fruit.

In math, they learned measurement using their bodies and paperclips, multiplication with colored beads, different types of lines, and fraction equivalence.

In language, they were introduced to verbs and worked on grammar box exercises.

Grade 2

In math, second graders learned about adjacent, linear, and vertical angles, the positions of two lines, reducing fractions, decimal fractions, fraction multiplication, multiples, statistics using bar charts, and prime numbers.

In language, they studied prepositions and worked on grammar box activities.

For reading, they finished The Magic Tree House #8, chapters 7 and 8. To enhance comprehension, we discussed questions after each reading session.

In writing, they practiced creating stories using specific words to improve their writing skills.

Grade 3

This month, third graders focused on preparing for their upcoming test at the beginning of April. They completed numerous exercises, and we reviewed the material together. They are well-prepared and ready for the test!

Reminder:

April 18 – Spring Holiday (No School)

March has been a busy and fulfilling month for the children. They demonstrated great dedication in their academic work and showed confidence and teamwork in their presentations. As we move into April, we look forward to more learning opportunities, hands-on activities, and supporting the children as they continue to grow and thrive.
