Prickly Pears - May Update

It is incredible, time went by fast! It is almost the ending of the school year 2024-2025! The Prickly Pears children already started creating their Mother’s Day gifts. They also started practicing their Mother’s Day song in English and Spanish, “Hello Mother!” “¡Hola Mamá!” and we talked about Mother’s Day celebration around the world. The children also enjoyed singing the song “¡Vamonos Afuera!” in Spanish to continuing to embrace spring, and they learned the colors of the Color Tablets Box #2 in Spanish. We read the books The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See?, and Ten Little Rubber Ducks by Eric Carle, and learned about his work as author and illustrator. The children also continued planting flower and vegetable seeds to experience the process of germination, the sprouting of a seed. Since Earth Day took place on Tuesday, April 22nd, we talked about the importance of taking care of our environment and ways to protect it and help it thrive. Through the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss we learned about how all of our actions impact nature and how it is our responsibility to speak up for and protect plants, animals, and water. We also read the book, What’s inside a Flower? by Rachel Ignotofsky. The Prickly Pears formulated questions and shared their knowledge about flowers, parts of a flower and life cycle of a flower. Our kindergarteners are already practicing the Fly-Up Ceremony’s song “Yesterday’s Dreams” and feel so excited about their new academic journey in the Lower Elementary classroom. Please, save the date to celebrate together on Tuesday, May 20th from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Keystone’s gym. Salma Bearat-Alhanafi, Leiland Chavez, Kamila Coker, Leena Ebrahim, Chloe Fisher-Haydis, Audrey Goldstein, Layth Labib, Jackson Vizzard, and Emma Weinstein-Herrera will graciously share their experiences in the Children’s House environment. We cannot wait to experience it! Thank you for all your generosity in the Sustaining Fund! You are amazing! Have a wonderful weekend!
