Prickly Pears - September Update

The purpose of life is to obey the hidden command which ensures harmony among all and creates an ever better world. We are not created only to enjoy the world, we are created in order to evolve the cosmos.” Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind. We said good bye to August by celebrating Dr. Maria Montessori’s anniversary (August 31, 1870). The Prickly Pears children learned relevant information about Dr. Montessori’s legacy and educational philosophy. We read Maria Montessori’s book - Little People, BIG DREAMS, identified her continent and country. The Prickly Pears children also happily sang the traditional "Happy Birthday” songs in English and Spanish to honor her. Happy Birthday Dr. Maria Montessori! During this week, the Prickly Pears children already began the Prickly Pears classroom art project for the Keystone fall festival. They portrayed their enthusiasm and applied their dexterity into their handmade masterpiece. We cannot wait to put it together! You will love it! During the month of September we will be talking about who makes up our families, we are asking parents to bring in family pictures in a labeled Ziplock bag. Feel free to include extended family, grandparents , cousins, aunts/uncles and pets. We will use these pictures to practice identifying different members of the family and show how different families look. Later we will display them in the Prickly Pears classroom board. As always thank you for your kindness and support! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! The Prickly Pears children creating their fall festival art project pieces.
