Prickly Pears - February Update

“If we are among the men of good will who yearn for peace, we must lay the foundation for peace ourselves, by working for the social world of the child.” Dr. Maria Montessori, International Montessori Congress, 1937.

The Prickly Pears children continued honoring African American people's achievements and contributions as we celebrate Black History Month, also known as African American History Month. The Prickly Pears children have been learning about Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Muhammad Ali, Kobe Bryant, and Barack Obama.

Besides these, the Prickly Pears children continued rehearsing enthusiastically for the Children’s House Peace Program presentation. Our traditional Keystone Peace Program event will take place on Tuesday, February 13th, at 6:00 pm at the Keystone gymnasium. Please drop off your children at the Keystone lobby at 5:45 pm and proceed to the gym. We are kindly asking the Prickly Pears parents to dress up their children with denim pants (jeans) and white shirts for the boys and white dresses for the girls, or if your daughter feels more comfortable wearing pants, please dress her up with denim pants (jeans) and a white blouse.

We celebrated James and Sadé’s birthday in the Prickly Pears classroom this week. James and Sadé shared delicious treats with their classmates, and we sang the traditional “Happy Birthday” song in English and Spanish. It was fantastic! Happy birthday again, James and Sadé!

Since spring is around the corner, we are kindly asking our Prickly Pears parents to donate flower and vegetable seeds and mini succulents so we can invite the children to plant them in our mini pots in the outdoor environment. As always, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for your kindness and generosity.
