AZ Eagles - December Update

This month was a very eventful one for the AZ Eagles! This month's occupations were cinematography, chemistry, and structures. The Cinematography group has been learning about film history, including some fun facts related to The Wizard of Oz. They also made a trailer for our upcoming play, The Outsiders. In addition, cinematographers have been working on their own short films. They started by pairing up and writing their scripts. After that, they cast their films and are now recording the sound and capturing footage to bring their films to life. So far, all the films are coming along great.

The Chemistry group has conducted many interesting and fun experiments, like a lesson related to atoms, electrons, and neutrons, and another one related to how water molecules behave. They also conducted an experiment where they made carbon snakes grow. The Structures group has been making some very interesting structures. For one activity, they took some eggs, constructed some enclosures, and put the eggs inside them. Then they tested their designs by dropping them off of our balcony. They’re also building and testing bridges.

This month's humanities were Ancient Japan, Ancient Greece, and U.S. Nationhood. All of them were very interesting topics to learn about. We have started our research reports and related presentations of learning for those humanities groups. The Greek group recently participated in their Myth Expo, where they researched a Greek myth and then made an art project based on it. Some outings the AZ Eagles had this month include various visits to Hawthorn Court, a local memory care facility, during which they helped the residents with many different fun activities. We also went to the Mesa Contemporary Museum of Art with Ms. Ana, which was a great experience. We also took a group to the Guitar Center to purchase some new sound equipment for our upcoming play.

Speaking of our play, the AZ Eagles have been working very hard to get the show up and running. We’re hoping for a good turnout for our production of The Outsiders, taking place at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th (alumni only), and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 19th for AZ Eagles families and the Keystone Community. This month has also been very busy for the entrepreneurs in the AZ Eagles Marketplace, who premiered their new businesses at their first event during Keystone’s Fall Festival. It was a very successful event for them, and thanks to the community’s support, we earned $2,114 for the class. Also, Corrina of Corrina’s Keystone Childcare, held her first event last month, which was also very successful. If you didn't get to sign up for this event and you would like your child to attend the next one, sign up for the next one on December 18th from 6-8 p.m. There are only 20 spots available!

In other news, the AZ Eagles also had their Thanksgiving feast, which was a lot of fun with a lot of delicious food. The Art Expo also took place at the beginning of the month, in which every AZ Eagle researched a popular artist and recreated one of their masterpieces. All the art projects were very impressive. That was the AZ Eagles’ exciting month of November!
