AZ Eagles - May Update

Hello, Eagles families! This week was the last full week of school until our big Costa Rica trip, so we had our insurance paperwork due as well as our last couple of assignments for the year. On Monday, the seventh graders had their Political Cartoon Analysis due and were assigned an Op-ed, which will be due next Wednesday. Meanwhile, the eighth graders were assigned a series of Adolescent articles to read and analyze, which discuss topics related to teenage crushes, rebellion, stress, and anxiety. On Tuesday, the seventh graders watched a video called The Social Dilemma while the eighth graders got assigned to create functional texts. Wednesday was busy as usual; Groups 1 and 3 went to Art and Spanish class while Group 2 worked in the Garden. On Wednesday and Thursday there was an AZ Eagles Marketplace sale. On Thursday and Friday morning, the eighth graders discussed 1984 by George Orwell. The seventh graders voted on their next books, which they will discuss when we get back from Costa Rica. In other news, all of the humanities groups started drafting their research, and our final Humanities reports of the year are due next Wednesday, with the exception of the United Nations group, who is making a shorter report for their mock assembly that they will present after our trip. In addition, everyone is expected to finish their Costa Rica report by Friday so we can learn all about our destination while we’re traveling. We’re so excited!

Sincerely,

Katherine Dielen
