Greetings, AZ Eagles families! This month has been an eventful one! We hope you’ve all enjoyed Fall Break. First quarter Humanities have concluded and we’ve just begun the second quarter. The new Humanities groups are Ancient Greece, Ancient Japan, and US Nationhood. The Japan group recently went out to Shinkō Sushi for lunch, and also visited the Japanese Friendship Garden.
This month we also hosted our annual Shark Tank, which is an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to a team of “sharks” (the Microecon leadership team), who determine whether or not to invest in each business, and ultimately determine the final AZ Eagles Marketplace businesses for the year. Congrats to everyone who got through! The businesses that passed Shark Tank are preparing for the Grand Opening AZ Eagles Marketplace sale at the Fall Festival. Stop by to support our entrepreneurs by purchasing some of their products. We’ll have sweet and creative treats, fun drinks, crocheted and 3D printed items, and handmade artworks, but don’t forget - it’s CASH ONLY.
Speaking of the Fall Festival, our class has created a special art project in the form of a light up globe painted in the Montessori style with a golden eagle soaring across it. Our committees have been busy with their respective jobs. The yearbook team has been busy taking pictures of the various classrooms, our maintenance team has been busy making repairs, and our breakfast team has started to plan our next breakfast in December. Our pizza/Jamba team is kept busy by record orders each week!
With the weather cooling down, students have started planting seeds and saplings in the garden. We’re already starting to see some sprouts popping up, and can’t wait for the garden to come back to life. In Seminar, the 8A group has gone from Persepolis to Siddhartha, and 8B has started reading Ready Player One. The 7th grade group just finished their reading of The Outsiders to prepare for our play. Regarding our play, we have just wrapped up auditions and as of writing this, have not yet learned who everyone is going to play. We’d like to thank Ms. Rachel and Childsplay for making this production happen.
Sincerely,
Deanna Fournier, 8th grade
