We had a super September! Between research projects, our potluck, tie-dying t-shirts, camping and our fall festival art project we have really built a fantastic classroom community and I know it’s going to be a strength of the Gila Monsters all year! In addition to our daily math and writing practice, we have explored ecosystems, transfer of energy, botany, the composition of our earth, perimeter, surface area, area, color theory, parts of government, authors perspective, parts of speech, punctuation, probability and more.
Coming up after fall break, we’ll continue deep diving into fractions, decimals, biographies, persuasive writing, and extra fun activities like planting in our backyard, our fall festival raffle basket, and observations/conferences!
During our camping trip we learned about the history and ecosystems of Mt. Lemmon, curiosities arose about constellations, condensation, light pollution, rainbow trout, bears, river otters, different kinds of moss and fire building, to name a few. We had a great hike around Rose Canyon Lake and visited the Mt. Lemmon General Store and Gift Shop.
At the end of fall break I will send out important dates for October including flowers and ice, birthdays, and fall festival dates. A huge thank you to Ms. Denise, Mr. Tori from aftercare and volunteer parent Mr. Gary Hoffman for helping make our camping trip so successful, to our firefighter families who helped with the presentation, and to our key parents for all their help this month getting fall festival rolling and so much more! I hope you all have a wonderful, restful fall break!
