Dear parents of the Diamondbacks Classroom,
We had a great start to the year. It is amazing how quickly the first month went by. We are growing closer as a community. Working together and doing follow-up lessons are supporting this process.
During the first weeks, the children were told the five Great Stories, introducing all the areas of the curriculum. Here are some of the other lessons the children were given: Use of watercolors, multiplication of fractions by fractions, lowest common multiples, lateral and total area of a solid, types of triangles according to sides and angles, the simple tenses, adverbial extensions in sentence analysis, types of leaf venation, parts of a flower, three properties of air, the two movements of the Earth, the family tree of hominids. Introduction to the tone bars, how to create an outline for a research topic, and many more.
Nearly all children are engaged in research projects, and we had our first presentation on Portugal on Thursday.
We handed out the packing list for the Camping Trip on Wednesday. Today the children will bring home a short memo about the trip. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Next week, the children will work on the list of items we need to buy and start planning activities and games. We will also practice setting up the tents.
The decisions for the raffle basket and the art projects were made. The Diamondbacks will create a mosaic for a concrete bench. The design is being worked on. For the raffle basket, we will have a Creative/Art Basket. You will receive more details soon.
