Hello again Red-tailed Hawk Families!
It’s hard to believe, but here we are at the last month of school! This has been such a fun, productive and busy year! It really is true that “Time flies when you’re having fun!”.
April brought many lessons in a variety of subjects. We worked with the Fundamental Needs of Humans, we learned about the needs of plants and their functions, we dove deep into poetry writing and compiled a collection of poems that culminated in a lovely Mothers’ Day book. Our field trip to the Phoenix Symphony was a big success, and we welcomed kindergarten visitors while our 3rd years spent the day visiting and working in the upper elementary classrooms.
We have several things happening in May as we close out the year. Please make sure to mark your calendars! We begin the month with our end-of-year camping trip to Prescott! Students will arrive with their belongings the morning of May 6th, and head straight to the gym. From there we will take roll and load the charter bus to camp! As a reminder, students will need to bring a sack lunch to eat upon arrival at camp. We then have afternoon classes, dinner, a campfire (with s’mores of course), a great night’s sleep (hopefully) in a yurt, wake for breakfast, one more class, a lunch to go, and then we head back to campus! A more detailed camping schedule will be sent separately. Students who are not attending camp this year, are expected to attend school as usual 😊
Mothers’ Day gifts are coming home on Friday, May 8th. If your student will not be here on that day, please let me know as soon as possible, so that we can send the gift home earlier.
The week of May 11th will be a “Wrap up” week, with a few more lessons, and presentations of researches, finishing up incomplete work, and taking care of academic “odds and ends”. We will also be celebrating our summer birthdays that week.
Our final week of school is May 18th. Here is the schedule for that week:
Monday, May 18th – Cubby Clean Out – Please send a bag for your child to bring home all of their cubby items.
Tuesday, May 19th - FUN DAY! (Students will vote on what to wear and do, so more details will follow soon)
Wednesday – End of Year Deep Cleaning – Please send your kiddo in good cleaning clothes (or as I call them, “grubby” clothes).
Thursday – Last Day of School HALF Day! – There is no aftercare this day, so please plan accordingly. We will have a school-wide, Student-only fly-up ceremony, say goodbye to our 3rd years, and sign yearbooks.
Thank you again for a wonderful year! It has truly been my privilege and pleasure to work with your children.
