Over the past month, our classroom has been filled with meaningful learning, creativity, and collaboration as the children continued to grow both academically and socially.
Following the long weekend, students returned refreshed and smoothly transitioned back into their Montessori work routines. Our third graders successfully completed their state testing, demonstrating perseverance and focus throughout the process. Across all grade levels, students remained engaged in their daily work and continued building strong academic habits.
A major highlight of this month has been the preparation for our class play. The children have taken an active role in every part of the process—from creating props and writing invitations to memorizing lines and planning their stage movements and expressions. It has been truly inspiring to see their creativity, teamwork, and sense of ownership throughout this experience. By the end of the month, they proudly performed their play for families and the school community, showcasing their hard work and growth with confidence.
In addition to their work on the play, students participated in a variety of enriching activities. We celebrated Earth Day through thoughtful projects, including acts of kindness for the environment, writing appreciation letters, and even composing songs. The children also enjoyed watching performances by two classes, which provided inspiration and deepened their appreciation for the arts.
Students also demonstrated strong leadership and kindness when welcoming visitors from the Children’s House. They showed responsibility and care in supporting younger students and modeling positive classroom behavior.
Academically, students continued to engage in new lessons and follow-up work across subject areas. It has been especially joyful to see students expressing themselves through writing—many eagerly shared their stories with classmates, bringing energy and connection to our classroom community. In mathematics, students explored fractions, multiples, factors, long division, long multiplication, and polygons. In language, they continued their study of parts of speech, sentence analysis, and word study. In science, students engaged in lessons on the work of water, the relationship between the Earth and the Sun, as well as studies of flowers, leaves, roots, and the three states of matter.
Additionally, the children put thoughtful effort into creating special Mother’s Day gifts, showing care and appreciation through their work.
Overall, this month has been a wonderful reflection of the children’s growth, creativity, and collaboration. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
