April Update

How wonderful experience is to observe the metamorphosis of butterflies! The children will have the opportunity to observe day by day the different stages of this incredible transformation. The Prickly Pears children were able to identify the four stages of the butterfly’s life cycle in English and Spanish: egg (huevo), caterpillar (oruga), chrysalis (crisálida), and butterfly (mariposa).

We read the book “Life Story - Butterfly” by Michael Chinery and “Life Cycle - Butterfly” by Louise Spilsbury. The children also learned a new poem in a Spanish named “ La Mariposa” and continued learning new color names by singing the song “In the Blue Sky, there is a —— Butterfly” and continued practicing the Butterfly Dance song. We read the book “Insects Change”, and the kindergartners made a booklet illustrating and writing the names of each stage of the butterfly’s cycle.

Please, save the date for our next get together as a community! Thursday, April 9th at 5:30pm at Desert Foothills Park, we will be gathering to enjoy together our Prickly Pears’ Potluck. Our Prickly Pears’ Class Keys will send you more information about it. It will be amazing!

As a friendly reminder, we are kindly asking our Prickly Pears parents to apply sunscreen to their children before school. This will help us to smoothly transition from one routine to another with ease. As always, thank you so much for your kindness and support!
