“If we are among the men of good will who yearn for peace, we must lay the foundation for peace ourselves, by working for the social world of the child.” Maria Montessori, International Montessori Congress, 1937.
The Prickly Pears children continued rehearsing enthusiastically for the Children’s House Peace Program presentation. Our traditional Keystone Peace Program event will take place on Wednesday, February 11th at 6:00 pm at the Keystone gymnasium. We are kindly asking the Prickly Pears parents to pick up their children
before 5:00 pm to help the children transition smoothly from their school day routine to their performance. Please drop off your children at the Keystone lobby at 5:45 pm and proceed to the gym.
This week, we celebrated Sierra’s fourth birthday in the Prickly Pears classroom. Sierra shared delicious treats with her classmates and we sang the traditional “Happy Birthday” song in English and Spanish. It was fantastic! Happy birthday again, Sierra!
We continued learning about Chinese New Year also know as Lunar New Year. Chinese New Year in 2026 falls on Tuesday, February 17th marking the start of the year of the Horse. These celebrations last for sixteen days culminating with the Lantern Festival on March 3, 2026. This week, we read the books Chinese New Year Wishes written by Jillian Lin and Bringing in the New Year written by Grace Lin. The Prickly Pears children loved to learn how people in Asia celebrate as a family and within their communities.
As always, thank you for your kindness and support!
Have a wonderful weekend!
