Dear Parents,
Happy New Year, and welcome back to school. I hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and meaningful winter break. The children have returned to the classroom with great enthusiasm and are settling comfortably back into their routines. They have also been eager to share stories and memories from their time away.
In January, our unit study theme is Peace. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., the children are exploring what peace means to them and how they can contribute to peace in their everyday lives and in the world around them. They have been introduced to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, as well as the song “We Are Unity.” Through reflection and discussion, the children are deepening their understanding of these ideas and connecting them to kindness, respect, and peaceful actions in their daily lives. The children are also learning sign language to accompany the lyrics of “We Are Unity.” Some of the words they are practicing include world, one, sun, unity, and ocean. Please feel free to ask your child to demonstrate the signs at home.
Families are warmly invited to attend our upcoming Montessori Journey on Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31. This special experience offers an opportunity to learn more about the Montessori philosophy and the thoughtful progression of learning from Primary through Elementary. Parents will be able to see how the materials and lessons build over time, supporting each child’s growth in independence, confidence, and academic understanding. You will also have the opportunity to explore each level of the program and ask questions directly to the teachers. Whether you are new to Montessori or have been part of our community for many years, Montessori Journey provides meaningful insight into your child’s educational journey.
