The AZ Eagles are busy preparing for their annual stage production in partnership with Childsplay, Inc. This year’s performance is The Westing Game, based on the novel by Ellen Raskin.
For more than 13 years, AZ Eagles students have collaborated with professional artists from Childsplay, Inc., in Tempe. This year’s production is under the direction of Ms. Rachel McCabe. Students play an active role in selecting the production and work closely with Ms. McCabe across every aspect of professional theater.
In addition to auditioning for acting roles, students contribute behind the scenes in areas such as marketing and advertising, costume design, audio and media production, set design, stage management, props, and the creation of the official playbill. This immersive project allows students to explore theater careers beyond performing, while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment. Along the way, they learn the importance of collaboration, personal responsibility, and creative self-expression.
Adding to the excitement, the AZ Eagles Marketplace will be open on the night of the performance, with student-run businesses and concessions available for purchase.
Some secrets never stay hidden for long. Fourteen heirs, a vast fortune, and one murderer… Join the AZ Eagles on December 18 to uncover who took Sam Westing’s life—and what they are willing to do to win The Westing Game.
