“The child who has never learned to work by himself, to set goals for his own acts, or to be the master of his own force of will is recognizable in the adult who lets others guide his will and feels a constant need for approval of others.” —Maria Montessori, Education and Peace.
Another beautiful week in the Prickly Pears classroom! During this week, the Prickly Pears children had the opportunity to have amazing outdoor activities such as planting, watering plants, scrubbing the bricks, sweeping, and spoken language activities such as reading aloud and classified picture cards learning new Spanish vocabulary. The children also had the opportunity to have picnic style lunch in the Children’s House playground. They loved it!
This week, we also celebrated “Día De Los Muertos” “Day of the Death” by setting up an altar “Ofrenda” to honor our loved ones who already passed away. It is a beautiful tradition that takes place each year in Mexico in November 2nd and in some other places around the world. The Prickly Pears children had the opportunity to taste a typical Mexican bread called “Pan de Muerto” that is placed in gravestones as an offering for the loved ones. The children also tasted a delicious dessert made with pumpkin, sugar cane, and cinnamon. The Prickly Pears children loved it!
Thank you to all the parents that already had their Observations and Parent-Teacher Conferences! We feel so grateful for having a very supportive and involved participation. We really appreciate your collaboration!
Our heartfelt gratitude to our Prickly Pears Class Keys: Kryslen Bohlt, Michelle Harris, and Maria Salas for their unconditional commitment and support! ¡Gracias, Gracias, Gracias!
Since the weather is getting cooler, we are kindly asking our Prickly Pears parents to label your child’s sweater and/or jacket to avoid confusion. Thank you for your support!
Save the date for the Keystone Fall Festival “Candy Land”! It will take place on Saturday, November 8th from 3:00-8:00 pm. The Prickly Pears children are enthusiastically practicing their dance “The Candy Man” to be ready for one of the most amazing evenings at Keystone. It will be fantastic!!!
