November Update

Hello Red-tailed Hawk Families!

Things have been pretty busy in the Hawks’ classroom and there is a lot of great, productive and joyful learning happening! We are enjoying welcoming observers into the environment, and sharing with them a glimpse of what our days look like. Parent/Teacher conferences are also in full swing, so if you haven’t signed up for your observation and conference, please do so as soon as possible.

With the Keystone Fall Festival and Fundraising Auction only a few weeks away, the excitement is building! Our beautiful art project is hanging in the lobby, and our fun K-Pop basket is on display as well. The students and I are so thrilled with how both items turned out. Thank you to all of our generous families who donated to our classroom basket, and to our amazing Class Key parents for helping us create such a gorgeous art piece. A special thank you to Christina and Shawn Netherby (Leo’s parents) and Leo’s Grandpa for creating the perfect frame to showcase our art! Mr. Stefan has been teaching our dance for the festival during P.E. and the children are having a great time practicing.

In class we have been doing a variety of work. Our older students are enjoying their weekly Writers’ Workshop meetings. These meetings help them isolate and practice specific writing skills which make our written work easier and more interesting to read. Breaking down the elements of writing, such as preplanning strategies, punctuation usage, penmanship and more help students prepare for bigger work. It also enables them to create written work that they can share with their peers. There are many different researches happening now, including monarch butterflies, koalas and lionfish. Two of our 3rds years recently finished a research on chocolate and enjoyed a “going out” trip to Cerretas Candy Factory. Their peers enjoyed it as well, since the students were kind enough to bring us back a piece of chocolate to enjoy during their presentation.

Thank you again for the support and encouragement you give to our Red-tailed Hawk community. Please plan on joining us for our biggest fundraising event, The Keystone Fall Festival on Saturday, November 8th!

In peace and appreciation,

Mrs. Amie

P.S. As a reminder, please remind your student to wear tennis or athletic shoes on Tuesdays! We have been seeing a lot of sandals and crocks on those days, and unfortunately, children are not able to fully participate in P.E. without appropriate clothing and shoes.
