September has been a month full of discovery, creativity, and joyful learning. The children have embraced new lessons, celebrated special moments, and continued to grow in both independence and community spirit.
Classroom Highlights
🐸 New Class Pet
We welcomed a new class pet—a frog! The children were thrilled to meet this new friend, took responsibility in learning how to care for it, and even named it Sparky after thoughtful discussion.
🎶 Special Performances & Visits

The children enjoyed a beautiful performance of both choral singing and instrumental music. They listened attentively and were inspired by the experience.

Olivia’s mom, Krissel, visited the classroom to share a lesson on copper mining. She read This Little Town Where We Mine Copper, explained the mining process and its impact, and gave each child a small piece of copper to take home.
📚 Library Visits
Ms. Bahareh continued taking small groups of children to the library. The students loved choosing books and came back excited to read.
🍂 Hand Work
The class created autumn leaves to celebrate fall and also began a weaving project. The children showed great focus and creativity in their work.
✍️ Writing & Publishing

Several students presented research projects on topics such as dogs, mountains, and even a trip to New York.

Two students proudly shared their own poems, inspiring their classmates with their enthusiasm for writing.

Children began using typewriters borrowed from AZ Eagle to publish their work, making writing an exciting process.
🥗 Community Time
Families are preparing for the upcoming class potluck, a wonderful opportunity to come together outside of the classroom.
Grade-Level Learning
Grade 1

Math: Explored the Wooden Hierarchical Material to understand numbers from 1 to 1,000,000 and place value relationships. Learned multiples, concepts of line, and ideas of congruence and similarity.

Language: Introduced to the parts of speech (noun). Phonics lessons included R blends, L blends, Y as a long vowel, and the rule of -dge. Completed all cursive letters and enjoyed rainbow letters.

Science: Learned about the layers of the Earth, the story of the plant, the function of the leaf, particles attract, the 50 states and capitals, and the black strip.
Grade 2

Math: Continued long multiplication using the Large Bead Frame and Checkerboard, and began long division with the Racks and Tubes. Learned word problems, reviewed congruence, similarity, and equivalence, and began lessons on angles.

Language: Studied prepositions using the grammar box, played Fry words games, and continued the novel study of Freckle Juice. They also began writing their own stories using a story organizer.

Science: Continued classifying leaves and began lessons about stems.
Grade 3

Math: Continued work with long multiplication and division, began divisibility lessons, explored squares and cubes, practiced word problems, and started decimal fractions. They also learned to use a protractor to measure angles.

Language: Learned about homonyms, adverbs, and verbs. Completed 8 chapters of the novel study Because of Winn-Dixie. Enjoyed writing both stories and poems.

Science: Conducted experiments with roots and stems and began learning about wind.
✨ Overall, September has been a rich month of learning and growth. The children have shown excitement for new knowledge, responsibility for their classroom community, and creativity in expressing themselves. We look forward to continuing this journey together in the months ahead.
