Dear Parents,
The school year is off to a great start! The children have become acclimated to the classroom routines and procedures. They are becoming more independent and showing high levels of engagement with the materials. We would like to thank you for your support and understanding of the morning drop-off. We cannot stress enough the importance of having children arrive at school on time. Children at this age are very sensitive to their routine, and they have a better sense of order when they come on time without being rushed.
In commemoration of Maria Montessori’s birthday, we talked about her life and had an opportunity to appreciate her contributions. The children learned that our school’s name, Keystone Montessori, is named after Maria Montessori. Additionally, they discovered that Maria Montessori invented all of the materials they use to learn and grow.
The children have also learned many new songs and enjoyed playing games to develop team-building skills. One of their favorites is the “Colors” song, where each child is assigned a color and follows the song’s directions (e.g., red: stand up, green: turn around, etc.).
We have been reinforcing Grace and Courtesy lessons to support positive social interactions. Some examples include how to interrupt politely, how to wait patiently, and how to stand in line peacefully.
Since the temperature has cooled down a little, the children were able to spend time on the playground for the first time this school year. They were absolutely thrilled to be outside, and they are also practicing healthy habits by taking water breaks and staying in the shade.
This week we celebrated Kendrick’s 3rd birthday. Happy birthday, Kendrick! Thank you to Kendrick and her family for bringing birthday treats to share with classmates.
Have a restful long weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Yoo-Kyung
