Dear Coyotes Families,
In the past few weeks, students have been working hard on their follow up work to lessons and their research projects. Students have been given lessons on Operations with Decimals, Operations with Expanded Power Notation, Squaring & Cubing, Extracting Square Roots & Cube Roots, Converting Fractions to Decimals & Vice Versa, Complex Sentences with Degrees of Dependencies, Area of a Circle, Calculating Volume, Parts of Polygons, Introduction to the Study of Natural Resources, Measuring Angles, Antemeridian & Postmeridian, The Work of Air, Atoms & Molecules, and Writing News Articles. We have also been working on writing responses to questions after reading a text. We will be practicing this skill for a few weeks. The Mongolia group presented their research and cooked us a delicious lunch of a traditional Mongolian Beef Stew & Rice. Another group of students had a bake sale to benefit Elephants….they raised $300!!! Students have also been busy writing our class play. We have had four groups of students writing plays and will chose one to perform. Please mark your calendars for March 5th, as the students are extremely excited to perform the play for you!!
Every February 14th, we celebrate Arizona’s birthday, by doing some research and baking a cake, shaped in the form of something related to Arizona. Please DO NOT send any Valentines cards/gifts/candy to school. We have discussed this as a community and the students are clear about the expectations for that day.
