2nd December Update

Dear Agave Families:

The end of the year brings no greater joy than the opportunity to reflect upon the beautiful things and all memories we have made together as a Toddler Community!  It is hard to believe how quickly the time has flown and how much your children have grown these past few months.

It has been a joy to observe them working and being more independent every day, their little steps through independence is something very valuable in our environment. The children had a great first semester and we are looking forward to seeing what the next semester will bring!

Because of the Holiday Season, we as adults are very aware of it and busy planning our family festivities. The children are also aware of their surrounding but in a different way, they just enjoy it! The ones who must plan everything, do shopping, have the house clean for relatives coming over, wrap presents, cook, bake, or plan a holiday out of town are the adults, adding that to our regular routine may cause us to stress, we can feel overwhelmed at sometimes and feel the need to “rush” in our schedule to have everything done on time. We understand that children do not.

It is very important to remember that even at this time of the year the younger ones still need their routine and time to do things by themselves. Their inner call of independence & curiosity is always present, so be patient and understanding if a sudden tantrum happens out of nowhere (in front of the people coming over to our house for dinner for example). Keeping your limits and boundaries consistent and clear (even in front of their grandparents!) will help them go through this process. It gives them a frame of reference for self-control and respect as well as security.

“The child has a different relation to his environment from ours… the child absorbs it. The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul. He incarnates in himself all in the world about him that his eyes see, and his ears hear.”

Maria Montessori, The Absorbent Mind

Winter Break Care

Winter Break Care for those enrolled in the All Day/All Year program will be held in our classroom. Lead guide (Ms. Lidia) will be out, and teacher assistants will be in charge during that time.

If your child will be absent, please fill a gold note via school cues to let us know. It is important for them to know if your child will be assisting as during the holidays, we do not have all staff working, it helps us to organize the day and to place assistants where they are most needed. Our assistants do not have access to their emails during the day, if you need to communicate something, please write it in the daily report or call the office. Thank you so much!

The gift of love, the gift of peace, the gift of happiness… May these be yours this Holiday Season.

Happy Holidays and warm wishes for 2020!

Ms. Lidia, Ms. Silvia & Ms. Rosario
