Red-tailed Hawks December Update

Happy Holidays Red-tailed Hawk Families!

Let me start by apologizing for having to cancel the Sweets Swap. It is an evening we look forward to each year. Unfortunately, it also coincides with the time of year when flu/cold/Covid, etc., like to take hold. This year was, sadly, no exception. When the weather warms up, and after the busyness of the holiday season, we will look to reschedule a social event for the Red-tailed Hawk Community.

In the meantime, we have a very busy next two weeks in the classroom!

The week of December 12th, Hawk students will be helping the Coyotes classroom with their "Cards for Seniors" community service project.

On Friday, December 9th, the elementary students will have a "Keystone Mercado." Interested students will create a product to sell to their peers in the courtyard. Proceeds will be donated to the charity of their choice. During recess on that day, students will be given time to sell their products and time to shop. A separate email communication with more detail will be sent home this weekend.

Friday, December 16th (the last day before break) is a half day, and our CLASSROOM HOMEMADE-GIFT EXCHANGE. As with the Mercado, a more detailed description of this activity will be sent this weekend. Please be sure to read the entire email so that you and your child understand the parameters of the gift exchange. If you have any questions, please email me.

Friday, December 16th, will also be Keystone's Winter Solstice celebration for students. This event takes place during class time.

In addition to all of this fun, I have a few projects scheduled for the students to do throughout the next two weeks. We also have many lessons to fit in, which were missed in my absence. So, we will be busy, busy hawks! Because of this, please let me know as soon as possible if your student will miss any days during the next two weeks.

Lastly, this time of year is full of many different holiday celebrations, traditions, and family customs.

I invite anyone who would like to talk about or share some of the ways your family celebrates this season to come into the class. If you would like to come in and share with the students, please email me, and we will arrange a time.

Thank you all so much. It is amazing to think we are halfway through the year already! It is an absolute pleasure to work with your children. Thank you for the trust and support you give to Keystone and the Red-tailed Hawks.

In peace and appreciation,

Mrs. Amie
