Happy Holidays Red-tailed Hawk Families!
We have a busy two weeks ahead, but before we jump into that, I'd like to thank everyone for coming out to our Sweets Swap this week. It was so great being able to see everyone in person again! The students had a lot of fun, the weather was great, and the treats were delicious!
We have been busy at work with a variety of lessons in the classroom. Our older students are working on paragraph writing and editing, and are transitioning into friendly letter writing. We are wrapping up our work of air lessons, and have been learning a lot about local wind patterns. The students really enjoyed the introduction to the 5 Kingdoms of Life, and I'm looking forward to seeing the variety of follow-up work that will follow. We've also been discussing and learning about the many holidays celebrated during this time of year. If you have any family traditions or holidays that you would like to share with the class, we would love to have you come in to talk about them! Please email me if you would like to arrange a time.
As we close out the rest of 2021, the students will be wrapping up researches and unfinished work. We will have "management meetings" to help plan some of the things they want to pursue when we return in January. Progress reports will be coming out in January, but as always, if you have any questions, or would just like to "touch base" I am happy to arrange a time to meet to talk about your student.
On Friday, December 17th, we will be doing our classroom "Gift Sway". Information was sent home earlier this week, and I will also attach the information below. Please let me know if you have any questions. This is always a fun activity and a great way to close out the week. I understand that some people may be traveling in the coming weeks, so if you know your student will be missing any school days, please let me know as soon as possible.
Also on Friday, December 17th, we will be celebrating the winter solstice with the other classrooms. That day is a 1/2 day, so it will be very busy!
In closing, Ms. Janelle and I would like to thank you for such a wonderful first 1/2 of the year. We can't tell you how happy we are to be back in person, and how much we appreciate everyone's cooperation in keeping our community safe and healthy. It is our greatest pleasure and privilege to work with your children and we are grateful every day for that opportunity. Have a wonderful December, and please contact me if you have any holiday traditions that you would like to share with our class.
