October Update

Hello Red-tailed Families,

I hope you are all healthy and well. It's been a busy time in the Hawks community, and it was nice to have some time to relax and rejuvenate during Fall Break.

Our transition to hybrid learning is going well. The students are adjusting to our new format, and enjoying the increased lessons with materials. It's been wonderful to see the enthusiasm in the classroom, and our blended lessons (including both in-person and online learners) are allowing us to stay connected as a community. We have been working on a range of things such as poetry writing, multiples of numbers, editing, and parts of the mountain.

Our annual Keystone Fundraiser is only a few weeks away. This year it's especially important that we bridge the gap between public funding, and the actual cost of running an authentic Montessori classroom. Fundraising is critical for most public schools in Arizona, but I am grateful that Keystone does it in such a way that the students are involved and invested in their education. Rather than, "cookie dough sales and wrapping paper programs" that donate a fraction of their proceeds to a school, 100% of the fundraising proceeds that Keystone takes in, goes directly to the students and campus.

·      That beautiful checkerboard your student had a lesson on? The large open campus we get to spend time on? The experienced, trained Montessori guide that presented your child an inspiring lesson on human migration? All of these things are possible, thanks to the generosity and commitment of our Keystone Community. I am so grateful for our wonderful parents who donate their time, talents and resources, to ensure that Keystone can deliver a world class Montessori curriculum.

With this in mind, I hope you will all be able to participate in this year's virtual auction. It is sure to be a lot of fun, and will be a great way to socialize and meet with other Keystone families and staff in a safe, socially distanced way. We will also be holding our ART WALK and BASKET VIEWING drive through this Saturday morning. Please check our website for more details.

Thank you all for your continued support and assistance. Have a wonderful week! We hope to see you at the art walk and the auction!

In peace,

Mrs. Amie
