Red-tailed Hawks- 2nd February Update

Hello Red-tailed Hawk Families,

Next week will be having our group overnight with the Iguanas classroom. Thank you to everyone for returning the permission form and $7 promptly, so that we can begin preparing for the evening. Thank you also to our parents who have volunteered to come in and conduct classes for the students. We will have classes on cooking, origami, the skeletal system, and animals. Each student will choose two of those classes to attend.

The overnight class begins at 6:00. At that time, please bring your student, with their gear, to the double gym doors. There, they will be checked-in by their classroom teacher (or assistant). They will then leave their belongings in the gym, and head to the field for dinner. After dinner, they will go to their first class. After their first class, they will switch to their second class. Each class will last about 40 minutes. After the classes, we will meet in the gym and prepare the sleeping bags. We will get ready for bed, and have lights out around 8:45. The following morning, we will get up, clean the gym and have breakfast in our respective classrooms. After breakfast both classes will walk to the park, and be back at school before 1/2 day pick-up.

A few things to remember:

  • Students should pack, and carry their own belongings
  • Please do not bring any gear until the evening
  • Parents may not join us for breakfast, or at the park

A packing list will be sent home on Wednesday, February 13th.

If you have any questions, please email me.

On another note, we will be continuing our weekly hikes each Thursday in February. This is in place of our regular Tuesday PE classes. Please help your student to remember to remember water and appropriate hiking attire for the next few weeks.

Thank you so much,

Mrs. Amie
