Red-tailed Hawks- 1st February Update

Hello Red-tailed Hawk Families,

During the last few weeks, we’ve been working on several things. Many students are working on biographies. They have chosen a wide variety of people to research on, including Maria Montessori, Betsy Ross, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King Jr. and Thomas Jefferson. We’ve also begun our study of the needs of plants. The children are enjoying observing their seed germination experiments. Some of our younger students are working with prefixes, and counting coins.

Next week we will begin our hiking series for PE. We will be going on 4 different hikes. The online permission form will be available through School Cues. There will be one online permission form for all of the hikes, so you only need to “sign” once.

Please remember that in order for children to attend the hikes, they must have appropriate shoes, clothing, and a water bottle (or Camelback). Students without all of these items will not be allowed to attend the hike. Parents will not be able to be contacted for forgotten items. It is always upsetting to both the children and the teacher when a child is not able to attend a hike due to forgotten items.

Also coming up, is our classroom overnight. This year we will be “camping” with the Iguanas classroom. Students will arrive at school at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21st. Please bring students to the double gym doors, to be signed in by their teacher. We will begin our evening with a pizza dinner on the field, then proceed to our different classes. We will all sleep in the gym, and then head to the park in the morning after breakfast. We will be back to the school in time for the ½ day pick up time of 11:45. If your student is in extended care on Friday, please send a lunch for them Thursday evening, or with a sibling Friday morning.

Thank you,

Mrs. Amie
