The past few weeks have been full of fun activities. We enjoyed the fall festival, a walk to the park, and finally our Thanksgiving Fall Feast. The next few weeks will also be busy, with Thanksgiving break, and preparations for winter break around the corner. On Wednesday, December 12th, we will have our first classroom community social function. That evening we will meet at Club West Clubhouse for our annual soup pot-luck dinner and cookie exchange. More details will be sent shortly, however please be sure that date is your calendar.
During this time of year, there are many reasons and occasions for celebrating. If your family has any traditions, stories or holidays that you’d like to share with the class, please email me to arrange a time for you to come into the classroom. Related to the holiday season, if you know that your child will be absent anytime during the holidays, please let me know as soon as possible, as we have many things going on in class.
In addition to our many fun activities, we’ve also been hard at work in the classroom. We have three different novel study groups currently in progress, as well as several different researches. Our new classroom pet inspired lots of hedgehog studies, as did our Composition of the Earth lessons. Some students have been working on fraction number lines, while others have been doing fraction addition and subtraction, and reducing fractions. We’ve enjoyed several lessons on poetry, including lessons on cinquains, 5 senses poems, and color poems.
Have a great few weeks!
