Dear Iguanas Families:
We have been up to a lot in the Iguanas classroom. Some lessons that have been given are communitive property, parts of a triangle, perimeter, and the younger children have been working with adjectives. One recent writing prompt was: Would you rather live 200 years in the past or 200 years in the future. This has been a fun prompt for them to get creative in their paragraph writing. We have also been preparing Thanksgiving placemats for our Thanksgiving Feast. The children are using construction paper and leaves to prepare them and we will laminate them so they are able to eat with them.
We have also been eating well lately. Emili prepared some pumpkin bread from scratch for the class, it was truly divine! Today, we made tortillas using Maseca. The children mixed Meseca and water together and rolled the dough into balls. After that, they used the tortilla press to flatten out the balls. Finally, we put them onto a stove and melted some cheese onto them. Some girls also prepared salsa from tomatoes and jalapenos. Everyone loved them, even our picky eaters!! We hope to cook soon with ingredients from our garden. Our tomatoes, spinach, radishes, carrots, and basil are all starting to grow! The children have enjoyed the process or preparing, planting and watching our vegetables finally sprout!
Please remember our Thanksgiving Feast is next Tuesday, November 20th. Please bring your items in on Tuesday morning. Sending in your food items in crockpots, if possible, always works best to keep them warm and easy for serving!
Have a great weekend!
