The Annual Keystone Montessori Peace Program Presented by the Children’s House classes is scheduled for Wednesday, February 17th on YouTube.
We will film the children’s performance on Friday, February 12th and we ask that the children wear their best outfit and dress shoes. Your child may also wear a cultural heritage costume, reflecting your family’s personal background.
For those of you who haven’t experienced the Peace Program before, your children have been exploring how they contribute to make the world a peaceful place. The program presents their tribute to what they have discovered. It is the reflection of their understanding of their role that each individual can play in bringing peace to the world.
We have also been practicing our performance for the annual Peace Program. They have been learning basic stage manners as well as practicing how to talk clearly and enunciate. The children are looking forward to presenting to their parents.
We have been discussing peace and learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. and his dream of diversity and equality for all people. The children have been listening to and reciting Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech “I Have a Dream”. They demonstrate an understanding of the meaning of the words and the intention of the speech. We also have been learning several songs about peace, like “A Child of Peace” and “Put a Little Love in Your Heart”.
Valentine’s Day: The school as a whole has made the decision not to celebrate Valentine’s Day by exchanging commercialized Valentine’s Day cards or candy. Please do not bring commercialized Valentine’s Day cards and candy to share with your child’s classmates. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
