Happy new year, and welcome back to school! I hope that you and your family enjoyed winter break. The children have seemed happy to return to school and are settling back into their normal routines. They have also been very excited to share what they did during the break.
In the month of January, our unit study theme is peace. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., the children have an opportunity to discuss about what peace is and how they can contribute to world peace. The children were introduced to the Martin Luther King Junior speech, “I Have a Dream,” and the song, “We Are Unity.” We have been reflecting and discussing the meaning of these important messages. If you have any objects or books symbolizing peace, please have your child bring it to class to share.
We have welcomed a new student, Jude Cox, to the classroom and the children have been supportive and eager to help him make a smooth transition.
I would like to commend the Saguaros children for being safe by wearing their masks and washing their hands diligently. I have observed that the children’s masks tend to get dirty quickly as they sometimes lick their masks, sneeze in them, or drop them on the floor. To enhance the safety of your child as well as the other children in the classroom, I kindly request that your child wears a new mask every day.
Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude for the holiday gifts. Thank you for your continual generosity and support. I’m looking forward to another great semester!
