Happy New Year, and welcome back to school! I hope that you and your family enjoyed winter break. The children have seemed happy to return to school and are settling back into their normal routines. They have also been very excited to share what they did during the break.
In the month of January, our unit study theme is peace. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., the children have an opportunity to discuss about what peace is and how they can contribute to world peace. We read Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous speech, "I Have a Dream" and reflected on its meaning. This is a good learning experience for the children to consider how we can spread peace by keeping rules and helping each other. In addition, the children will be introduced to songs, poems, and books related to peace. If you have any objects or books symbolizing peace, please have your child bring it to class to share.
Also, we welcomed Michael, a new friend. He is transitioning steadily with all of the children's help and support.
Finally, I want to express my gratitude for the holiday gifts. Thank you very much for your generosity and support, and I’m looking forward to another great semester!
