AZ Eagles May Update

Greetings, AZ Eagles and families!

April was a busy month for the AZ Eagles, with state testing, our last set of Humanities research and reports, and even some fighting robots. Seminar this month consisted of eighth graders completing All Quiet on the Western Front, while seventh years discussed To Kill a Mockingbird, A Separate Peace, and Make Lemonade. We enjoyed our annual Poetry Jam where cool cats and groovy chicks got to share their original or other favorite poetry with the group in 1960s NYC coffee house style. Humanities this month included groups studying America at War, the History of Women, and the U.S. in the 20th Century. Occupations consisted of Child Development, Graphic Arts and Design, and Robotics. The robotics team built robots in preparation for an epic Bot Battle, which will take place sometime after our return from Spain. Speaking of Spain, the Eagles have been preparing themselves by conducting research related to cultural and historical aspects we will be exploring abroad, which they will be sharing with the rest of the group as we approach each of our destinations. The Keystone Community Garden Committee gathered on April 24th for our first “Planting Party”, in which community members planted, started seeds, distributed mulch, constructed arbors, installed fencing, and helped bring our garden to life. We’re looking forward to what’s sure to be a memorable trip to Spain and to a fun rest of the school year!
