AZ Eagles September Update

Greetings, AZ Eagles and Families!

We can’t believe it’s almost September already! This past month has flown by in the Eagles’ classroom (pun intended), and we’ve been having a blast. We have already participated in various outings, including those to Feed My Starving Children and to the Pueblo Grande Museum, and in September we’re looking forward to a several night camping trip in Palomar, California, as well as an outing to the Heard Museum. In the classroom, the Eagles have been working hard, getting used to our environment and workload, and doing lots of socializing with their new (and old) friends. Eagles have been studying ancient civilizations for their first cycle of Humanities (specifically Mesopotamia, the Native Americans, and the Indus Valley Civilization), and have already almost completed their first cycle of Occupations - Home Economics, Sociology, Sports Physics, and Economics. They have already begun the process of composing their first major writing assignment of the year, a fictional narrative, and have also finished two books in their Seminar groups - The Little Prince (7th years) and Fahrenheit 451 (8th). Our office hours will begin next Wednesday, September 7th, from 3 - 4:45 PM, and will continue every Wednesday throughout the year to offer the kids a quiet work space or extra help. The Glee Club has already started their Tuesday afternoon rehearsals, in which they’ve begun to work on a very exciting piece they plan to perform at this year’s Fall Festival. The kids are already moving into chapter two in Math, and chapter four in Science and Latin. Their committee work is also underway, and they have been working hard on various projects related to the committees they are involved in. One new committee that has been added to our lineup this year is the Garden Committee, which will oversee and manage the construction of Keystone’s very own on-site community garden. Overall, we are off to a great start!
